The way I am was born out of counter culture.

In the 1980s it was the post-punk, skateboarder, b-boy, fanzine-driven DIY party movement. In the 1990s it was the birth of communities on the world wide web with acceleration thru the 2000s. In the 2010s it was the biohackers and those wonder what the hell technology meant for humanity with experimentation and true belief in open source (tech and science + maker movements) and underground (the psychedelic therapy railroad and more).

Now we are here in the 2020s. Social media and post-pandemic hangovers have created a techno-colonialist reign and curation of belief and ideas. Now in the much maligned ‘Age of AI’ we are led to a version of a single future where we are subscribers, users and consumers vs. creators and community builders.

It’s getting harder to think in unique ways and gather to challenge and buck the system.

Yet I have hope…

Hope in Gen Z and their activistic ethos.

I believe and see that ideas pass through and jump a generation – Boomers pass to Millennials (a major element in mass apathy) and Gen X prime (and are inspired by) Gen Z. We feed each other with Gen Xers driven by independence and Gen Z striving to regain that same idea – empowerment, vocal support for change and communities driven by hope.

I truly believe that the next 10 years will deliver structural activist-driven change. The tech that has regulated us is here to be subverted by our own uses – this is the mindset shift.

Time to stand up and speak truth to power from within the four walls of the boardrooms and from the streets. This is the pincer movement I am here for.

Welcome to the ‘X-Z Movement’. A grassroots counter culture rebirth with hope as an incredible energy for change.

Are you on board? What are you gonna build?
